Device or Disturbed

Device or Disturbed ???

Here’s the new CD from Device or should we really say David Draiman from Disturbed fame.  The voice is unmistakable along with most of the writing style. If you are a Disturbed fan than this is certainly a CD to add to your collection.  I’ve been following Disturbed for a long while and do like this CD even if I’ve only listened to it twice so far. It just was released April 9, 2013. The song that’s been getting radio airplay is “Vilify” which sounds very much like Disturbed.  Device feels very familiar and doesn’t disappoint.  Disturbed fans also know some of their CD’s have a cover song and this one follows suit with “If I close my eyes forever” the classic Ozzy Osbourne & Lita Ford song but here David teams up with Lizzy Hale.  If you are thinking about this CD I suggest getting it at Best Buy this week and go for the deluxe copy there are 3 bonus tracks. Yes, you read it correct I said to buy the CD. I’m from the old school and like to physically hold what I purchase in my hand and not have it in cyberspace somewhere.

Device

Device or Disturbed or just David?  Hey all “D’s”

Happy listening, Monica

My Chemical Romance bye bye

Then there were five

Is it any wonder that when some get so popular that they feel no accountability?  Just today on Sixx Sense radio Nikki Sixx mentioned that the singer Gerard Way for MCR made the comment that he (the band) did not have to justify a reason for the break up. Guess that’s only a reflection of how he (they) feel about the fans.  Personally I can’t say I ever was a really big fan but do like several songs and the CD The Black Parade.

so long MCR (RIP)

Then there were four- could this have been the beginning to the end?????

To all music fans would love to hear your comments
keep on rockin,

Happy Birthday to Jon BonJovi

Time for another rockers Birthday.  Happy birthday to Jon BonJovi a NJ native (like myself) and who also shares my mom’s Birthday.

Jon at home on stage

Jon on stage

Besides being part of the band Jon has 2 solo LP’s, he’s a record producer and has done some acting.  The band BonJovi has sold over 130 million records — pretty unbelievable!!!! Most of those  sales were before downloading was popular and they were full lenegth  physical copies, the way it should be!

Whatever Jon does he does well and has been a household name since the mid 80’s. Personally I think he’s better to represent the state of NJ then Bruce Springsteen. Go Jon!

Just being Jon

Best wishes and many more birthdays,
keep rockin,
Monica

Chevelle Stray arrows

This is a first time I’m doing an album review here on my site so here goes.  Recently in December 2012 Chevelle came out with a greatest hits CD and since I  heard the band name on the radio and didn’t have any of their music I decided to give it a try.

Chevelle Stray arrows Best buy

To my surprise I heard many of these songs on the radio just didn’t know it was Chevelle. I was happy that I decided to buy the deluxe edition offered at Best buy, which has 4 bonus tracks.  I am an avid music fan (rock mainly) and could not believe I did not have this band in my collection yet.  I would highly recommend this CD and I plan on watching for future releases from them.

Just a little info about the band, they came out in 1995 and were started by the Loeffler brothers in Illinois. They have sold 4 million LP’s in the US alone and have 6 studio CD’s.

In case you didn’t notice I am a physical copy person and I even save the promo sticker that’s on the cellophane. LOL…..

looking forward to some comments.   here’s the tracks included on the deluxe edition

1 Jars    2 Same old trip    3 Vitamin R    4 The red    5 I get it    6 Face to the floor       7 Saferwaters    8 Send the pain below    9 Sleep Apnea   10 The clincher    11 Open /point #1   12 Envy  13 Hats off to the bull   14 The meddler   15 Closure    16 Fizgig

keep rocking,

DOUBLE FEBRUARY BIRTHDAY SHOUT-OUT

Vince

Sully

Happy Birthday to Sully Erna on Feb 7th (from  Godsmack) and Vince Neil on Feb 8th (from

Motley Crue). Both are brilliant singers when performing solo or as part of their GREAT bands. These two bands have personally affected my life.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Motley Crue back in the 80’s and they put on a great show. I even had my dad go with me to a concert and he made a banner that was featured in a Motley Crue fan newsletter. It said, “What do you do at fifty-two? You go see the Crue, that’s what you do”. To think, back then he was considered old. However, we don’t think that way anymore, after all the guys in the band are all around that age now, as well as most of the fans. LOL…

What a character my dad was that he used to joke with me when the radio was on saying who is that? “Godsmack?”. It turned out to be quite a joke amongst my friends; everyone was Godsmack, and when they really did come on the radio, he would say it was someone else. He must have been playing around. If he only knew that he shared the same birthday as Sully…

Hope you both have a wonderful day and enjoy! Remember that the fans will always appreciate the music you give us and look forward to many more years to come. Stay healthy, young at heart and keep ROCKIN’!

Happy Birthday Paul!

Classic Kiss makeup

ATTENTION KISS fans! As you all know today is Paul Stanley’s birthday. On January 20th, 1952 Paul was born in New York state under the name Stanley Eisen. Paul is the driving force behind the legendary band KISS.  He and Gene Simmons are the two founding members. To find a guitarist and drummer they placed an ad in the local paper and that’s how they found Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. The KISS trademake was for the band to wear theatrical makeup. Paul is best known as the “Starchild” persona. In 1974 KISS became offical and released a self-titled LP. KISS has sold millions of LP’s and is known for their out landish stage show, costumes and of course makeup. In 1983 they released their first LP without the makeup titled “Lick it up”.

Paul has released solo LP’s the first as part of the four solo KISS LP’s and also “Live to Win” in 2006. No matter how we think of Paul it’s always as an entertainer.    Just one bit of trivia here for anyone who knows.  Why on the song “Come on and love me ” did Paul use the lyrics “I’m a Capricorn”  when he’s really an Aquarius?   Just wondering?

Paul Stanley solo

I want to wish Paul a happy and healthy Birthday and to say thank you for the music and the wonderful performances.

Stay young and  keep rocking Paul,
                        Monica

Me Paul Stanley makeup

Also want to say thanks to my brother Gary who got me into KISS many years ago.  That opened up my music world and I’ve been expanding my list of artists ever since.

Please join in the shout out to Paul leave some comments…………

Happy 44th Birthday Brian! (Manson)
